Biography
Seeking perfection in creativity is a contradiction in terms. If I want perfection then I would call myself a graphic artist or a non fiction writer or a perfect example of a man but I am none of those things and very flawed. I throw, sculpt, write, and paint because I want to see what will flow from my right brain and out my fingers. My employment over the years was largely left brain work. Now I’m going to see what my right brain can do. I sketched ever since I was 10. My Mother, who was an accomplished artist, would take me with her painting en plein air. The smell of turps is still a fond memory. I would sketch, she would paint. Much later, in my 30’s I took a night school pottery class at Georgian College, run by an amazing Potter, Roger Kerslake from whom I learned to love clay. I stuck with clay, off and on as life would allow. I took up acrylic painting when I took a class in Puerto Vallarta with a young Mexican man who was at one with the paint. He was magical to watch. In a short period of time I learned what attitude to have toward the medium from him. Now I split my time between PEI Canada and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Life is good. David Lewis
